On this free Holocaust Tour of Krakow, we'll visit the city's Jewish ghetto to learn about World War II's history and see the iconic Eagle's Pharmacy.
Description
Meet at Plac Bohaterów Getta to begin the free Holocaust tour of Krakow. This plaza is a historical site from the 1940s, where the German authorities exhibited hostility towards the Jewish population. The tour will cover topics such as racism, grief, and heroism to provide a deeper understanding of this significant historical period.
Participants will explore the Krakow Ghetto Wall, an imposing barrier that isolated the Jewish community from the rest of the city. As we walk through the ghetto, we'll see the remains of historic hospitals, the prison, and the employment office headquarters, where Jews were forced into labor in workshops like Optima and Madritsch.
Our route will include the locations of the gates that once served as entrances to the ghetto, including the Zuker Synagogue, reflecting the area's history and the Judenrat's role.
The tour will conclude at the Eagle's Pharmacy, a museum that provides insight into its historical significance, wrapping up approximately two hours after we start.
