On this free Holocaust Tour of Krakow, we'll visit the city's Jewish ghetto to learn about World War II's tragic history and see the iconic Eagle's Pharmacy.
Description
Meet at Plac Bohaterów Getta to begin the free Holocaust tour of Krakow. This plaza will provide insights into the 1940s, when the Germans showed hostility towards the Jewish population. The tour will cover complex topics such as racism, grief, and acts of heroism for a deeper understanding of this historical period.
During the tour, we will observe the numerous seats in the plaza and move to the remains of the Krakow Ghetto Wall, which isolated the Jewish population from the rest of the city.
Walking through the ghetto streets, we will see the facades of historic hospitals, the prison, and the employment office headquarters, where Jewish residents were forced into labor in workshops like Optima and Madritsch.
Our journey will continue to the gates that once served as entrances to the ghetto, including the Zuker Synagogue, which holds historical significance related to the ghetto government, the Judenrat.
The last stop will be the famous Eagle's Pharmacy, now a museum, where we will explore its history, concluding our tour approximately two hours later.
