Explore Nowa Huta, a city established mid-twentieth century as an ideal social realist settlement with an expert English-speaking guide.

Guided Tour of Nowa Huta

Meet your guide and the rest of the tour between St. Florian’s Gate and the Barbican. From here, take the tram to Nowa Huta, located 10 kilometres east of Krakow's city centre. This district serves as a socialist-realist model city built post-World War II to showcase the benefits of Communism.

First, visit an old bunker and discover facts about the communist era and a 1950s command centre. Next, head to Central Square and Roses Avenue, the heart of Nowa Huta, where five large avenues extend from the central square in a star formation, previously home to a statue of Lenin.

The route includes The Lord's Ark, a symbol of resistance for Catholic workers against the communist regime, leading to the formation of the Solidarity Syndicate, a major social movement of the time.

The tour concludes with a tram ride back to Krakow, arriving around 2:30 PM.
