Discover one of the most visited religious destinations in the world on this day trip to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, built in honor of Latin America's patron saint.

Day Trip Details

At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel and begin the road trip to the north of Mexico City to visit the Villa de Guadalupe, visited by 20 million pilgrims every year in honor of the Virgin of Guadalupe.

At the foot of the Cerro del Tepeyac hill, we'll visit the current Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the second most visited Catholic monument worldwide, second only to St. Paul's Basilica in Rome. This was the chosen place to present the World Cup won in 2010 by the Royal Spanish Football Federation as an offering to the Virgin of Guadalupe.

We'll stop at the former basilica, which currently is an expiatory church to Cristo Rey. Next, we'll climb the Cerro del Tepeyac on a steep staircase until we reach the Capilla del Cerrito, built in the spot where the Virgin of Guadalupe first appeared, popularly known as the "miracle of the fresh flowers."

Continuing our tour, we'll arrive at the Capilla del Pocito (Chapel of the Little Well), a gem from Mexican Baroque art where religious people would use the chapel's well to clean their wounds and drink its water since it was said to have healing properties.

Finally, we'll return to your hotel in Mexico City and say our goodbyes 4 hours later.

Tour of Mexico City

If you select this option, after taking the day trip to the Basilica of Guadalupe described in the previous section, you will have 1 hour free to eat on your own.

Afterward, we'll take a walking tour of Mexico City's historic center, where we'll see such iconic monuments as the National Palace, the Metropolitan Cathedral, and the Palace of Fine Arts.

Throughout this tour, we'll make various stops at different establishments in the historic center to sample one or two sweets at Dulcería Celaya. We'll try a marzipan at Mazapanes Toledo, a cookie or slice of cake at the Ideal pastry shop, and a churro with chocolate at El Moro.

This tour lasts 4 hours, takes place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and ends in the city center.
