Get to know the history of the Mexican capital and its religious fervour on this tour of 3 of the icons of local culture: the archaeological areas of Teotihuacán, the Basilica of Guadalupe and Tlatelolco.
Day Trip Details
After meeting at your selected meeting point in the centre of Mexico City, we'll begin our 8.5-hour tour of significant sights in the capital.
Our first stop will be Tlatelolco, an archaeological site known for its connection to the Aztec empire. We'll visit the Plaza de Tres Culturas, observing the blend of prehispanic and colonial influences alongside modern architecture. This includes remains of Aztec pyramids, a viceroy's convent, and contemporary buildings.
Next, we will head to Tepeyac Hill, home to the Basilica of Santa María de Guadalupe, a major pilgrimage site. We'll explore both the current basilica and the old basilica, spending about 1.5 hours here.
Our tour will continue to Teotihuacán, Mexico's most visited archaeological site. A lunch stop at a local restaurant will occur en route. We will traverse the Road of the Dead to uncover the City of the Gods, visiting the Quetzalpápalotl Palace and Quetzalcóatl Temple, with some free time to explore.
The tour concludes back at the starting point in Mexico City.
