Explore the Cajas National Park with us on this tour from Cuenca, admiring the Ecuadorian highlands and exotic vegetation.
Cajas National Park Tour
At 8:30 am, meet us in Parque Calderón to board the bus. We will leave Cuenca and head to the Cajas National Park, located 50 minutes away.
Our first stop will be the Llaviucu Lagoon, situated at nearly 10,000 feet (3,000 metres) above sea level, the lowest area of the park. Here, we will begin a 1-hour 30-minute hiking route to explore the local flora and fauna.
After the hike, we will proceed to Loma de las Tres Cruces, or the "Three Crosses Hill," at more than 13,000 feet (4,000 metres) above sea level. This area marks the continental divide between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, offering views over the park's more than 200 glacier lakes.
Next, we will make a brief stop at Toreadore Lake before visiting the Polilepys Forest, known for its thousand-year-old trees and biological diversity.
After our activities, enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, featuring potato soup and a choice of trout or roast chicken.
We will then return to Parque Calderón in Cuenca, arriving at 3 pm for farewells.
