Cajas National Park Tour

At 8:30 am, we'll meet in Parque Calderón to board our bus. We'll leave Cuenca for the Cajas National Park, located just 50 minutes away.

Our first stop will be the Llaviucu Lagoon, the lowest area of the park at almost 10,000 feet (3,000 metres) above sea level. Here, we'll embark on a 1-hour 30-minute hike to observe local flora and fauna.

After the hike, we'll stop at the Loma de las Tres Cruces, or "Three Crosses Hill," situated at over 13,000 feet (4,000 metres). This area marks the continental divide between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, offering views of the glacier lakes within the park, which number over 200.

Next, we'll make a brief visit to Toreadore Lake before heading to the Polilepys Forest, known for its ancient trees and rich biodiversity.

Following our explorations, we'll enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, featuring potato soup and a second course, which may include trout or roast chicken.

We'll then return to Parque Calderón in Cuenca, arriving back at 3 pm.
