On this guided tour of Cava San Miguel, we'll uncover the secrets of how Ecuador's most famous rum is made in the heart of the Equatorian Andes, complemented by a visit to Hostería dos Chorreras.
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at your selected starting point and drive to Cava San Miguel, just 15 minutes from central Cuenca. Upon arrival, enjoy a guided tour explaining the transformation of sugarcane into rum at high altitude, its origins, and unique aromas.
Explore the Cava San Miguel cellars, where thousands of oak barrels age the distilled sugarcane drinks, contributing to Ecuador’s natural rum. The tour concludes with a rum tasting.
Next, we will journey to the western mountain range and reach Hostería dos Chorreras after a 30-minute trip within Cajas National Park. This estate offers 3 hours of free time to enjoy various activities such as tractor rides, trout fishing, and boating. Additional options include visiting the warehouse and dining in the restaurant near the stream or the Chocolatería, where you can taste Equatorian cacao.
We will then return to our starting point in Cuenca, concluding this 6-hour tour.
