This tour commences in Cuiabá, offering a distinctive chance to navigate the expansive wetlands of Mato Grosso through both boat rides and a safari experience. This region is famed for its remarkable biodiversity and holds the title of being the largest wetland globally.

Safari Expedition in the Mato Grosso Wetlands

Your adventure begins with a pickup at Avenida São Sebastião at 7:30 am as we journey south towards the Mato Grosso wetlands. Upon reaching our destination, we will engage in a 65-kilometer (40-mile) safari along the Transpantaneira highway, revealing the diverse wildlife present in this extensive wetland. During this exploration, you’ll have the chance to spot caimans, macaws, toucans, and potentially the magnificent jaguar, a significant highlight of this natural paradise. Notably, the Mato Grosso marshlands were designated as a World Heritage Site in 1988.

As noon approaches, we will reach a lodge featuring a swimming pool, perfect for a refreshing dip before savoring a typical Midwest Brazilian meal. Enjoy a delectable assortment including grilled meats, chicken stews or roasted dishes, accompanied by rice, beans, steaks, and fresh salads, ensuring a delightful culinary experience.

In the afternoon, we will continue our adventure with a boat excursion to delve deeper into the natural marvels of this area, observing the impact of seasonal floods on the wetlands' ecological balance. This hour-long boat ride will conclude back at the departure point, leading us to return to Cuiabá, where we expect to arrive at the meeting location by 7:30 pm.
