Laguna Espejo Hiking Excursion

On this excursion from Malalcahuello, we'll hike to Laguna Espejo located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada glacier in La Araucanía.

Laguna Espejo Hiking Excursion

We'll start this hiking route from Malalcahuello at 7:30 am at Kilometer 0 of the Lonquimay Volcano Crossing.

The hike extends 22 kilometers (13.7 miles) in total with a medium difficulty level, passing through mountain stretches ranging from 1,720 to 2,554 meters (5,643 to 8,379 feet) in altitude. We will make several stops to enjoy the landscapes.

The route begins with a crossing through a wooded area featuring native botanical species such as araucarias and ñirres. After the forest, we will reach the eastern face of the Sierra Nevada glacier, home to Laguna Espejo, also known as 'Mirror Lake.'

At the lagoon, we will have a snack consisting of an energy bar, a candy, and an isotonic drink. We will also see waterfalls, including the notable Salto Punta Negra waterfall.

After enjoying the area, we will walk back to the meeting point, arriving at 4:30 pm.
