Laguna Espejo Hiking Excursion

On this excursion from Malalcahuello, we will hike to Laguna Espejo, located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada glacier in La Araucanía. The hike starts at 7:30 am from Kilometer 0 of the Lonquimay Volcano Crossing.

The total hiking distance is 22 kilometers (13.7 miles) with medium difficulty, ascending from 1,720 to 2,554 meters (5,643 to 8,379 feet) in altitude. There will be multiple stops to enjoy the landscapes.

Initially, we'll traverse a wooded area featuring native species like araucarias and ñirres. Afterward, we will reach the eastern face of the Sierra Nevada glacier, arriving at Laguna Espejo, or 'Mirror Lake.'

While appreciating the reflection of the mountains on the lake, we will have snacks consisting of an energy bar, a candy, and an isotonic drink. We will also view several waterfalls, notably the Salto Punta Negra waterfall.

After enjoying the area, we will return to the meeting point and arrive at 4:30 pm.
