Oropéndola Waterfall & Las Pailas Hiking Tour

On this hiking adventure, we will explore two prominent natural wonders of Rincón de la Vieja National Park: the stunning Oropéndola waterfall and the Las Pailas region. An experience not to be overlooked!

We will gather at Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin at a time that suits you. From this charming accommodation located within the Rincon de la Vieja National Park, we set out on a guided hike that takes us through key highlights of this protected area in northern Costa Rica.

Our journey begins with a 3.5 km hike leading us to the Las Pailas sector. Renowned for its captivating volcanic scenery, this part of the national park is truly remarkable. As we trek along, we will witness steam vents, minor geysers, and bubbling mud pots!

Throughout our hike, we’ll have the chance to observe over 300 bird species and indigenous wildlife, including armadillos, coatis, and iguanas. We will also keep an eye out for various monkey species, such as the white-faced, howler, and spider monkeys. The rich biodiversity of Rincón de la Vieja is truly a highlight!

Following our exploration of the local wildlife and plant life, we'll proceed toward the Oropéndola waterfall. This breathtaking cascade plummets 25 meters, emptying into a picturesque natural pool of the Blanco River.

After taking some time to rest by the waterfall and enjoy the surroundings, we will head back to our starting point, with an estimated return time of about 3.5 hours from when we first set out.
