Oropéndola Waterfall & Las Pailas Hiking Tour

In this hiking tour of the Oropéndola waterfall and Las Pailas, we'll discover two of the main natural jewels of the Rincón de la Vieja National Park.

At the time of your choice, we'll meet at Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin. From this lodging in the Rincón de la Vieja National Park, we'll embark on a hiking tour to explore this protected area in northern Costa Rica.

In the first part of the route, we'll hike 3.5 km until we reach the Las Pailas sector. This area of Rincón de la Vieja features volcanic landscapes. During the tour, we'll observe smoke fumaroles, mini geysers, and bubbling volcanic mud pits.

As we walk through this terrain, we may spot over 300 species of birds and native animals such as armadillos, coatis, and iguanas. We may also see different kinds of monkeys, including the white-faced, howler, and spider monkeys. The biodiversity of Rincón de la Vieja is one of its great attractions.

After exploring the local flora and fauna, we'll continue towards the Oropéndola waterfall. This waterfall falls from a height of 25 meters and pours its waters into a natural pool of the Blanco River.

We'll rest for a few minutes on the banks of the waterfall and then walk back to the meeting point, arriving around 3.5 hours after departure.
