Private Trip Details
After collecting you from your hotel at 9 am, we will travel by bus to the north of Dakar. Approximately an hour later, we will follow the same route as the Paris-Dakar Rally.
Upon arrival at Lac Rose, you will see the beautiful pink water. We will then transfer to a 4x4 all-terrain vehicle to explore the scenic surroundings. This saltwater lake is separated from the Atlantic ocean by a narrow strip of sand dunes.
During our ATV tour, you will observe local inhabitants using traditional methods to extract salt from the lake. Learn about the salt-panning activity that supports many people from West Africa, why the water has a pinkish hue, and the salt content which is 10 times higher than that of the sea.
After the 4x4 tour, we will have a fun dip in the Pink Lake. Experience the unique sensation of floating on the saltwater effortlessly.
Lac Rose
Due to heavy rains in summer 2024, the lake has retained water and lost its pink color. Salt extraction activities have resumed, along with tours, but the color has not yet returned, and the timeline for its recovery is uncertain.
