Senegal offers a captivating experience through its 10-day tour of the Lompoul desert and the deltas of the Senegal and Saloum rivers.

Description

Day 1: Dakar - Lac Rose

Upon your arrival at Blaise Diagne airport, you will be transported to the Lac Rose hotel for dinner and accommodation.

Day 2: Lac Rose - Saint-Louis

After breakfast, explore Lac Rose, known for its color-changing waters. Observe the beaches and filaos forests, and watch a demonstration of salt extraction. You may bathe in the lake and later visit the village of Retba before traveling to Saint-Louis, where you'll learn about its colonial history.

Day 3: Saint-Louis or Djoudi Park

If touring from April to October, you will remain in Saint-Louis to observe fishing activities. From November to March, visit Djoudi Park to explore its diverse bird life and take a raft ride on the Senegal River before returning for a carriage ride through the city.

Day 4: Saint-Louis - Langue de Barbarie

Travel across the Faidherbe bridge to Langue de Barbarie National Park for the rest of the day and overnight in a local hotel.

Day 5: Langue de Barbarie

Explore the Senegal River delta, observing its biodiversity, including pelicans and sea turtles, before resting at the Langue de Barbarie hotel.

Day 6: Langue de Barbarie - Lompoul Desert

Depart towards the Lompoul Desert, accessing the dunes via a 4x4 vehicle. Stay at a haima camp with dinner and a traditional music show.

Day 7: Lompoul desert - Ndangane - Mar Fafako

Visit Ndangane, then explore Mar Fafako with a horse-drawn carriage ride followed by a kayak tour of the Salum Delta.

Day 8: Mar Fafako - Saloum Delta - Mar Fafako

Discover the mangrove swamps of the Salum River, enjoying a cruise through its waters before returning to Mar Fafako.

Day 9: Mar Fafako - Bandia Reserve - Somone

Visit the Bandia Reserve for a safari observing African wildlife including rhinos, zebras, and giraffes. After lunch, head to a hotel in Somone.

Day 10: Somone - Dakar

After breakfast, visit the lagoon of Somone before traveling to Blaise Diagne airport for your return flight.
