Travel back in time on our Polonnaruwa & Pidurangala Day Trip from Dambulla. You'll cycle through the ruins of an ancient city, take a rowboat down Bendiweva Lake and visit a Buddhist complex.

Polonnaruwa & Pidurangala Day Trip

At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Dambulla. From there, we'll travel to the old city of Polonnaruwa by minibus, which should take around 1 hour 30 minutes.

Upon arrival, we'll swap the minibus for bikes and start exploring the ruins, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This site is one of the oldest kingdoms in Sri Lanka, founded by King Vijayabahu in 1070.

After exploring the ancient city, we'll head to the outskirts where an ox-drawn cart will take us around the countryside. Following the cart ride, we'll take a short boat trip on Bendiweva Lake and then a tuk-tuk tour of the local area.

Our next stop will be Pidurangala. This location is ideal for those wanting to escape the city crowds and connect with nature.

During your visit to this Buddhist complex, you'll see the ruins of an ancient monastery. If you're feeling adventurous, you can climb to the top of Pidurangala Rock for views of Sigiriya.

We will then return you to your hotel in Dambulla, where we should arrive at 2 pm.
