Bathurst Island Tour

Our adventure begins at Cullen Bay Terminal at 7:30 am, where we’ll board a ferry bound for Bathurst Island. Enjoy a scenic two and a half hour journey across the Timor Sea, soaking in the picturesque views along the way.

Upon arrival, our first stop will be the Mission Heritage Gallery, where you’ll gain insights into the local aboriginal villages and explore hidden gems like the distinctive Tiwi-style Catholic church. Be sure to look for the wooden sculptures depicting birds from Tiwi mythology.

Next, we’ll visit a local village, giving you the chance to connect with members of the Tiwi Islands' aboriginal community. Here, you’ll delve deeper into their rituals and dances, as well as discover the meaning behind their body art, which holds significant spiritual relevance and represents their social standing.

Following this cultural immersion, we’ll partake in a traditional tea along with a light lunch. Afterward, we’ll visit several craft shops to observe the creation of traditional sculptures by local artisans.

The tour concludes as we take the ferry back to our starting point, arriving in Darwin around 6 pm.
