Cross the Timor Sea and explore one of the famous Tiwi islands on this Bathurst Island Tour. Discover the crafts, rituals, and culture of the aboriginal population.
Bathurst Island Tour
We'll meet at Cullen Bay Terminal at 7:30 am and board a ferry to Bathurst Island. The journey lasts two and a half hours, featuring views of the Timor Sea.
Upon arrival, we'll visit the Mission Heritage Gallery to learn about the aboriginal villages and notable sites, including a Tiwi style Catholic church and wooden sculptures of Tiwi mythology.
Next, we'll go to a local village to meet members of the Tiwi Islands' aboriginal community and learn about their rituals, dances, and the significance of their body art.
Afterward, we'll enjoy a traditional tea with a small lunch and visit various craft shops to see local artisans create traditional sculptures.
The tour concludes with the ferry ride back to the meeting point, arriving in Darwin by 6 pm.
