Cross the Timor Sea and explore one of the famous Tiwi islands on this Bathurst Island Tour. Discover the crafts, rituals and culture of the aboriginal population.
Bathurst Island Tour
We'll meet at Cullen Bay Terminal at 7:30 am and board a ferry to Bathurst Island. The journey lasts two hours and a half, providing views of the Timor Sea.
Upon arrival, we'll visit the Mission Heritage Gallery to learn about aboriginal villages and features like the Tiwi style Catholic church, along with wooden sculptures depicting Tiwi mythology.
Next, we will visit a local village to meet members of the Tiwi Islands' aboriginal community, where we will learn about their rituals and dances, as well as the significance of body art.
After this, we will enjoy a traditional tea accompanied by a small lunch. Following the meal, we'll visit various craft shops to see traditional sculpture making.
The tour concludes with the return ferry to the meeting point, arriving back in Darwin at 6 pm.
