If you're staying in Palomino, we have an engaging activity for you. On this day trip, you will visit the Kogi Indigenous community and learn about their way of life in the Colombian Caribbean.

Kogi Indigenous Community Day Trip

At 7 am, pickup will be from your hotel in Palomino for a day trip to the rainforest of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. After a 1-hour drive, we will arrive at the village of Quebrada del Sol, where a typical breakfast will be served, and a local guide will explain the community's history and customs.

Next, we will walk for 1 hour to the Kogi Mulkwakungui village, where you will learn about Kogi traditions and meet the Mamo, the village leader.

At 12:30 pm, lunch will include soup, a main course, juice, and fruit. Afterwards, you’ll have 1 hour at the Don Diego River for swimming before returning to Palomino at 3 pm.

2-Day Trip

For a more immersive experience, consider the 2-day trip. The first day mirrors the day trip activities but includes a chocolate workshop and a traditional farmer's lunch in Quebrada del Sol, followed by swimming in pools. After a dinner, you’ll spend the night in a cabin at the village.

On the second day, after breakfast, a hike to the Don Diego River will lead to exploring it by small raft together with the Arhuaco Kandumake Indigenous people. Lunch will be served at noon, followed by packing and returning to Palomino by around 5 pm.

Accommodation

The 2-day trip includes 1 night's accommodation with breakfast in a cabin at the village.
