If you're staying in Palomino, this day trip offers a chance to engage with the Kogi Indigenous community and their lifestyle in the Colombian Caribbean.

Kogi Indigenous Community Day Trip

At 7 am, we pick you up from your hotel in Palomino for a trip to the rainforest of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. After a 1-hour drive, we arrive at Quebrada del Sol for a typical breakfast and a welcome from a local guide who will share the history and customs of the community. Following this, we walk for 1 hour to reach the Kogi Mulkwakungui village, where we will learn about Kogi traditions and meet the Mamo, the village leader.

At 12:30 pm, we have lunch, which includes soup, a main course, juice, and fruit. Afterward, we head to the Don Diego River for 1 hour of free swimming time. At 3 pm, we depart to return to Palomino.

2-Day Trip

The 2-day trip includes the activities outlined above, plus a chocolate workshop on the first day, a traditional farmer's lunch, and an opportunity to see Kogi weaving. In the afternoon, we visit swimming pools and return to the village for dinner. On the second day, we have breakfast before hiking to the Don Diego River for small raft exploration. We visit the Arhuaco Kandumake Indigenous people and return to the village by noon for lunch. After packing, we leave for Palomino and drop you off at your hotel around 5 pm.

Accommodation

The 2-day trip includes 1 night's accommodation with breakfast in a village cabin.
