2-Day Sahara Desert Tour

Have a unique experience among oasis, dunes, and troglodyte villages! On this 2-day Sahara Desert tour we'll cross breathtaking landscapes, discover millenary Amazigh traditions and sleep under the stars of the desert, the most authentic experience in the south of Tunisia!

Tour Details

Day 1: Djerba - Chahbania - Tataouine - Chenini - Ksar Ghilane

At the agreed time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Djerba to head south towards Tataouine. We'll cross the historic Roman Road. Our first stop will be the salt lake of Chahbania for pictures. Next, we'll continue to Tataouine for a 1-hour walk in the village and its traditional market.

We'll visit the village of Chenini, where we will stroll through its stone streets. At noon, we'll have a delicious Amazigh lunch in a traditional restaurant. In the afternoon, we'll reach the oasis of Ksar Ghilane, with the option to take a bath in a natural hot spring or ride through the dunes on a camel or quad bike.

At sunset, we will arrive at Zemla camp. You can participate in a traditional bread-baking activity in the sand while enjoying the sunset. Dinner will include typical dishes under the stars.

Day 2: Ksar Ghilane - Tamazret - Sidi Idriss - Toujane - Djerba

After breakfast in the desert, we will head to the mountainous region of Matmata. Our first stop will be in Tamazret for mint tea. Then, we'll go to Matmata to visit a local family in a troglodyte house and share a homemade lunch.

We will visit the Sidi Idriss troglodyte hotel, known from the Star Wars saga. Before returning to Djerba, we will stop in Toujane for final souvenir photos and gifts.

We'll conclude the tour by returning to your hotel in Djerba between 3 and 4 pm.

Accommodation

This activity includes 1 night of accommodation in a haima at a Zemla camp. You can choose from single, double, triple, or quadruple tents, all with electricity and shared washing areas, separated by gender.
