2-Day Sahara Desert Tour

Have a unique experience among oasis, dunes, and troglodyte villages! On this 2-day Sahara Desert tour we'll cross breathtaking landscapes, discover millenary Amazigh traditions and sleep under the stars of the desert, the most authentic experience in the south of Tunisia!

Tour Details

Day 1: Djerba - Chahbania - Tataouine - Chenini - Ksar Ghilane

We will pick you up at your hotel in Djerba to head south towards Tataouine, crossing the historic Roman Road. The first stop will be at the salt lake of Chahbania after a 1.5-hour drive. Following this, we will visit Tataouine and spend 1 hour exploring the village and traditional market.

Next, we’ll explore the village of Chenini before enjoying a traditional Amazigh lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we will enter the desert to reach the oasis of Ksar Ghilane with activities like riding a camel or quad bike. We will arrive at Zemla camp for dinner under the stars, featuring typical dishes and a chance to learn how to bake traditional bread.

Day 2: Ksar Ghilane - Tamazret - Sidi Idriss - Toujane - Djerba

After breakfast in the desert, we will explore the mountainous region of Matmata. Our first stop will be Tamazret for a mint tea. Next, we will visit Matmata and have lunch with a local family in a troglodyte house. Our journey continues to the Sidi Idriss troglodyte hotel, a filming location for the Star Wars saga, followed by a visit to Toujane.

We will conclude the tour by returning to your hotel in Djerba between 3 and 4 pm.

Accommodation

This activity includes 1 night of accommodation in a haima at a Zemla camp. We offer single, double, triple, and quadruple tents with electricity for charging devices, along with shared washing facilities separated by gender.
