On this day trip to Ksar Ghilane and Matmata, we'll explore an oasis, enjoy hot springs, and discover troglodyte houses.

Day Trip Details

At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Djerba and head towards Ksar Ghilane, about 3 hours away. During the drive, we'll cross the El Kantara, a Roman bridge spanning 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) connecting Djerba to the mainland.

Halfway, we'll stop at Medenine for a break at a local café where we will discuss the itinerary and you can grab a coffee if desired.

We'll continue through villages such as Beni Kheddach to Ksar Ghilane, spending 2 to 3 hours learning about the nomadic lifestyle and taking in the landscapes. Options include a dip in the hot water springs, a camel ride, or an ATV tour of the dunes.

Afterwards, we will have lunch in front of the dunes featuring local dishes like soup, salad, Tunisian pastries, and couscous. After re-energizing, we'll proceed to Matmata, known for its troglodyte houses, where we will visit a cave dwelling for rosemary tea and homemade bread with olive oil and honey.

On our return to Djerba, we'll follow the Berber Trail, passing filming locations for Star Wars and making 30-minute stops in Tamazret, Toujane, and Ksar Metameur for photos.

Lastly, we'll return to Djerba and drop you off at your hotel after a total of 8 hours.
