On this day trip to Ksar Ghilane and Matmata, we will explore an oasis, enjoy hot springs, and discover troglodyte houses.

Day Trip Details

At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Djerba and head to Ksar Ghilane, approximately 3 hours away. The journey includes crossing the ancient El Kantara, a Roman bridge spanning 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) connecting Djerba to the mainland.

Halfway through, we will stop at Medenine for a café break to discuss the day's itinerary, and you can grab a coffee if desired.

Continuing through villages like Beni Kheddach, we will arrive at Ksar Ghilane, a hidden oasis in the Grand Erg Oriental. Here, we will spend 2 to 3 hours learning about the nomadic lifestyle and enjoying the landscapes. You can take a dip in the hot springs, go on a camel ride, or an ATV tour.

After lunch in front of the dunes, featuring local dishes such as soup, salad, Tunisian pastries, and couscous, we'll depart for Matmata, known for its troglodyte houses. We will visit a cave dwelling to enjoy rosemary tea and homemade bread with olive oil and honey.

On our return journey, we will follow the Berber Trail, with stops of 30 minutes in Tamazret, Toujane, and Ksar Metameur. Finally, we will drop you off at your hotel in Djerba after a total of 8 hours.
