Day Trip to Ksar Ghilane & Matmata

On this day trip to Ksar Ghilane and Matmata, we'll explore an oasis, enjoy hot springs, and discover troglodyte houses.

Day Trip Details

At the designated time, we will pick you up from your hotel in Djerba and travel to Ksar Ghilane, approximately 3 hours away. We will cross the ancient El Kantara, a Roman bridge of 7 kilometres (4.3 miles) connecting Djerba to the mainland.

We will stop at Medenine to visit a local café for a short break to discuss the day's itinerary.

Continuing along charming villages such as Beni Kheddach, we will reach Ksar Ghilane and spend 2 to 3 hours learning about the nomadic lifestyle. You can relax in the hot water springs, take a camel ride, or join an ATV tour.

Afterwards, we will have lunch in front of the dunes, including local dishes such as soup, salad, Tunisian pastries, and couscous. We will then travel to Matmata, known for its troglodyte houses, where we will visit a cave dwelling to enjoy rosemary tea and homemade bread with olive oil and honey.

On our return to Djerba, we will follow the Berber Trail, passing filming locations for Star Wars and making 30-minute stops in Tamazret, Toujane, and Ksar Metameur for photos.

Finally, we will return to Djerba and drop you off at your hotel after a total of 8 hours.
