Activity Highlights
We will convene at the scheduled time on Bengoetxea Street in San Sebastián, embarking on a short 20-minute journey to a classic cider house.
Upon arrival, a guided tour of the cider house facilities awaits. You will explore the apple orchards, investigate the cellars, understand the production methods, and uncover the historical significance of cider within the Basque culture.
After the tour, participate in the Txotx ritual, where you'll enjoy tasting the fresh apple broth straight from the vats. During this session, a delightful menu will be served, featuring traditional appetizers, a cod omelet, fried cod with peppers, a grilled T-bone steak, and a dessert of cheese paired with quince jelly and walnuts.
The adventure concludes after four hours, returning to the initial meeting point in San Sebastián.
For those seeking an enriched experience, an option to include a visit to a Basque farmhouse is available at the time of booking. This journey extends our travel to Ezkio, a town in Gipuzkoa, where we will visit the lagar de Igartubeiti, a 16th-century farmhouse dedicated to cider production. This extended option lasts for 5 hours.
