Explore Ireland's rich history on this day trip from Dublin. We’ll visit the Hill of Tara, Trim Castle, Loughcrew's Cairns, and Fore Abbey.
Tour Details
After meeting at the Molly Malone statue on Suffolk Street in Dublin, we'll set off by coach to explore eastern Ireland's historic places.
After 40 minutes, we will arrive at the Hill of Tara, a ceremonial and burial site, known as the seat of the High Kings of Ireland. You will discover centuries of history and enjoy views of the Coronation Stone and An Forradh monument.
Continuing, after a 30-minute drive, we will reach Trim Castle, the largest Anglo-Norman fortress in Ireland. A guide will share information about the well-preserved 12th-century ruins.
Next, we’ll drive for 50 minutes to Loughcrew, which features Megalithic passage tombs from 3000 BC. This site offers legendary history and scenic views. We will then have a lunch break at a nearby restaurant.
After lunch, we will travel for about 15 minutes to Fore Distillery, where you'll learn about the production of spirits such as Golden Irish Rum, White Irish Rum, and Irish Poitín. A tasting of the distillery’s products will be included, and you have the option to buy lunch on-site or bring a packed lunch.
We will then visit Fore Abbey, founded by Saint Fechin in the 7th century, which housed 300 monks at its peak and has been set on fire 12 times in its history.
Finally, we will return to Dublin and drop you off on Dame Street in the city centre after a total of 10 hours and 15 minutes.
