Celtic Boyne Valley & Ancient Sites Tour

Explore Ireland's rich history on this day trip from Dublin. We’ll visit the Hill of Tara, Trim Castle, Loughcrew's Cairns, and Fore Abbey.

Tour Details

After meeting at the Molly Malone statue on Suffolk Street in Dublin, we'll depart by coach to explore significant historic sites in eastern Ireland.

After a 40-minute drive, we arrive at the Hill of Tara, a ceremonial and burial site considered sacred in Celtic tradition, offering views of the landscape along with historical insights, including the Coronation Stone and An Forradh monument.

Next, a 30-minute journey takes us to Trim Castle, the largest Anglo-Norman fortress in Ireland, where a guide will share information about the preserved 12th-century ruins during our visit.

Continuing, we drive 50 minutes to Loughcrew, home to megalithic passage tombs from 3000 BC. This site, the highest point in the county, offers stunning views and legendary history.

We will then travel for about 15 minutes to Fore Distillery, where we’ll learn about the distillation of spirits, including Golden Irish Rum, White Irish Rum, and Irish Poitín. A tasting of the products is included, and lunch can be purchased on-site or brought as a packed meal.

Finally, we visit Fore Abbey, founded in the 7th century by Saint Fechin, to learn about its historical significance and the fact it has been set on fire 12 times throughout its history.

The tour concludes with a return to Dublin, where you'll be dropped off on Dame Street in the city centre, lasting a total of 10 hours and 15 minutes.
