Get to grips with some authentic history and brush up on your Gaelic skills as you make your way around some magnificent sights throughout Ireland. Feel like you’ve been thrown back in to a time in which you weren’t even born as you set your eyes upon such beauty that has clearly not been meddled with and still manages to remain in a most wondrous state.
Journeying through the lovely Limerick, after going along the rebellious River Shannon we move on to Bunratty Castle. It was originally built in 1425 and later restored to its former medieval glory in 1954. You will not cease to be amazed by the lavish line up of 15th and 16th century furnishings, tapestries and art pieces which are able to perfectly sum up the aura of that era.
Once we have got our fix of history, we shall be able to get stuck in to some true Irish culture by trekking around the folk park which is a living reconstruction of Irish culture from over a century ago. It boasts an impressive size: at more than 26 acres and features over 30 buildings so you can literally go from house to house learning more and more as you go. You can grab a bite to eat from a traditional Irish pub in the enchanting village if you are feeling a bit peckish by this time.
Tread your toes along the captivating Cliffs of Moher and take advantage of a view that is just out of this world. Breathe in that fresh ocean air, listen as the birds tweet overhead as you make your way along this natural wonder in all its splendour. The cliffs go on for miles and miles, you’ll be tantalised by the sights.
Venture through the limestone uplands of The Burren which are somewhat lunar-like in their appearance and follow the shoreline of Galway Bay all the way to Galway on the last stretch of the trip. You will have a chance to stop by for a while in Galway which has been nicknamed: City of the Tribes since the Hiberno-Norman period. This culture-rich city was the 2020 European Capital of Culture and it’s not hard to see why. There’s a lot to see and plenty more to do. You’ll have some time to rove around and get to know Galway before we head on back to where we started out from.
