Tour Options

Set off on a day trip from Durango to explore the La Plata Mountains and Canyon in an off-roading Jeep. Choose between two different tour options. Both tours start and finish at 360 S Camino Del Rio in Durango, and include a local guide.

Scenic Waterfall Tour (2.5 hours)

Meet us in Durango for a tour of La Plata Canyon's scenic waterfalls. After a 20-minute drive in our open-air jeep, we will arrive at the mouth of the canyon. We will navigate winding trails and climb deeper into the canyon to discover 3 waterfalls. We will stop to take photos and enjoy the surroundings. Our finale includes a visit to a hidden waterfall at 3,048 meters (10,000 ft) above sea level, featuring an 8-meter (25 ft) cascade and historic mining structures. After 2.5 hours, we will return to Durango.

La Plata Mountains Tour (4 hours)

This tour features La Plata Canyon, also known as Kennebec Pass. We will take a short 20-minute drive to begin our ascent, keeping an eye out for local wildlife. We will drive up to 3,658 m (12,000 ft), taking in unique landscapes and the canyon's geological features. The tour will include stories about ghost towns and abandoned mines. After 4 hours, we will return to the starting point in Durango.
