Silent Zone, Mapimí & Ojuela: 2 or 3 Day Tour
We'll pick you up from your hotel at 5 am and set off on an exciting 2 or 3 day tour through some of the most fascinating parts of Durango.
Day 1: Durango - Mapimí - Ojuela - Silent Zone
After meeting at your hotel in Durango, we will head to the Magic Town of Mapimí for breakfast. We will visit the Benito Juárez Museum and then the Rosario Caves, known for phosphate extraction. We will continue to the abandoned village of Ojuela to see the Santa Rita mine and its suspension bridge.
At 4 pm, we will arrive at the Silent Zone for lunch and explore local legends, the Athena missile, and magnetic anomalies. We will visit the Hikuri shrine to learn about shamanism. The day will end with dinner, a bonfire, and a fire ceremony.
Day 2: Silent Zone - Durango
Following breakfast, we will visit the former site of the NASA train and Tetas de Juana Hill for photographs. We will view the abandoned mercury mines and Carillo Station, discussing their mysteries. A symbolic ceremony in honour of the air will precede lunch at camp, followed by the ritual of the earth. We will return to your hotel in Durango by 2:30 pm.
3 Day Tour
For an extended tour, we will visit the old Los Remedios estate, explore its remains, and enjoy the thermal baths at El Ojo de la Cueva, participating in a water ritual before returning to the Silent Zone for lunch. We will also return to your hotel by 2:30 pm.
Accommodation and meals
This tour includes 1 or 2 nights' accommodation in a cabin for 4, 6, or 8 people with a shared bathroom, or you can camp in a tent.
The meals include:
Breakfast: Omelettes, Mexican style potatoes, tortillas, beans, fruit, coffee.Lunch: Soup, fillet steak with vegetables, tortillas, hibiscus tea.Dinner: Meat burrito, beans, potatoes or eggs.
