Tour Details
Écija once had 14 churches and 18 convents. At the designated time, we will meet at the Plaza de Santiago to begin the tour. First, we will admire the Church of Santiago, the only church in Écija that preserves the Gothic-Mudéjar style. We will discover its altarpiece, one of the most important in the Archdiocese of Seville after the Seville Cathedral.
Next, we will head to Plaza de España, where the remains of a primitive episcopal building were found, and see the exterior of the Church of Santa Barbara, built over a Roman temple.
Our next stop will be the Church of Santa Maria. Its bell tower resembles the Giralda in Seville. We will explore the history of this church and the archaeological pieces in its courtyard.
Then, we will visit the Church of Los Descalzos, a Baroque gem significant in both the Astigitan and Andalusian styles; its interior is captivating.
We will pass by the Convent of Las Marroquíes and reach the Santa Cruz Parish Church. Finally, we will admire the exterior of the Church of San Pablo and Church of Santo Domingo before returning to our starting point.
The guided tour lasts 2.5 hours.
