Tour Description

The tour group will assemble at the Royal Mile outside St. Giles's Cathedral at the scheduled time. From there, we will make our way to the medieval castle, offering breathtaking views of the city and its surroundings.

After receiving tickets, we will begin our exploration of the castle's main buildings, the three museums, and the war prisons. At the castle’s highest point, we will visit:

The oldest surviving building in Edinburgh, St. Margaret's Chapel (built around 1130).Crown Square, featuring the Great Hall with its collection of weapons and armor.The Scottish National War Memorial.The Royal Palace, where James Stuart was born.

Inside the palace, we will view the vault housing the Scottish crown jewels, known as the Honours of Scotland, and the Stone of Destiny, used for royal coronations in the Middle Ages.

The guided tour will last 1.5 hours and conclude near the castle.

Ticket to Edinburgh Castle

If opting for a tour without a ticket, you must purchase a valid ticket for the same time and date as the guided tour. It is advisable to buy the ticket in advance, especially during peak season. This is not suitable for those wishing to visit only the exterior of the castle, which is available for a limited time. No ticket means you cannot join the tour.

The option without tickets is for those who have purchased them by other means or possess an Explorer Pass. Others must select the option with a ticket.
