Discover why El Chalten is known as Patagonia's hiking capital when you take this trip to the "youngest town in Argentina".
El Chalten Trip
In the morning, we will collect you from your hotel in El Calafate and travel to El Chalten. The itinerary begins along the 'Ruta 40' road, bordering Argentino Lake and crossing the Santa Cruz River. During the drive, information about the experiences of Darwin and Fitz Roy in the area will be shared.
We will stop at the settlement of La Leona, where you can stretch and enjoy a coffee and traditional pastry (not included). The journey continues along the shoreline of Viedma Lake, with views of the Torre and Fitz Roy mountain ranges.
Upon reaching El Chalten, we'll visit the town's Interpretation Centre. Then, we will take a minibus to an Operational Base, where you will have free time to hike at your leisure. A map of local trails will be provided, along with a picnic containing two ham and cheese sandwiches, a piece of fruit, a sweet treat, and a bottle of water.
After enjoying your time in the area, we will reconvene for the return journey to Calafate, where you will be dropped off.
