El Chalten Trip
We will collect you in the morning from your hotel in El Calafate and head to El Chalten, following the 'Ruta 40' road which borders Argentino Lake and crosses the Santa Cruz River. Along the way, we will discuss the experiences of Darwin and Fitz Roy in this region.
A stop will be made at La Leona settlement, where you can stretch your legs and refresh with a coffee and traditional homemade pastry (not included). We will continue along the shorelines of Viedma Lake and enjoy the landscapes of the Torre and Fitz Roy mountain ranges.
Upon reaching El Chalten, founded in the 1970s, we will visit the town's Interpretation Centre. Afterward, we will proceed by minibus to an Operational Base where you will have free time to hike at your leisure. A map of various trails will be provided, along with a picnic featuring two ham and cheese sandwiches, a piece of fruit, a sweet treat, and a bottle of water.
After your free time, we will regroup to begin our return journey to El Calafate, where you will be dropped off.
