Trip to El Chalten

Your adventure starts with a morning pick-up from your hotel in El Calafate, where we'll embark towards El Chalten. Our route takes us along the legendary 'Ruta 40', which hugs the shores of Argentino Lake and crosses the Santa Cruz River. As we traverse these breathtaking landscapes, we will share fascinating stories about the experiences of Darwin and Fitz Roy during their explorations in the region.

We will pause at the charming settlement of La Leona, located by the river of the same name. Take a moment to stretch your legs and enjoy a coffee accompanied by a traditional homemade pastry (not included). We will then proceed, tracing the scenic shores of Viedma Lake, while soaking in the stunning vistas of both the Torre and Fitz Roy mountain ranges.

Upon arrival in El Chalten, recognized as the 'youngest town in Argentina' due to its official founding in the 1970s, we will visit the town's Interpretation Centre. From there, we'll continue by minibus to an Operational Base, where you'll enjoy some free time to embark on a hike of your choice. A map detailing the various trails in this stunning area will be provided, along with a delightful picnic consisting of two ham and cheese sandwiches, a piece of fruit, a sweet treat, and a bottle of water.

After savoring your time in this remarkable setting, we will regroup to commence our return journey to El Calafate, where you will be dropped off.
