Desert Lake Trip

Explore the natural beauty of the Andes with this fantastic trip to Desert Lake. You will also enjoy a pleasant boat ride and take in wonderful views of the Vespignani Glacier.

Lake of the Desert Trip

At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in El Chaltén and drive for one and a half hours along zigzagging mountain roads, leafy forests, and alongside the Río de las Vueltas until we reach the picturesque Lago del Desierto (Desert Lake).

Once there, we'll head to the pier and board the boat for around 30 minutes. As we drift, we will admire the magnificent Huemul and Crestón glaciers. After this, we visit the Vespignani Glacier, allowing free time to admire the panorama of the ice tongues and the north face of Mount Fitz Roy!

After exploring the glacier, we'll stop for a hot tea with cookies, then set sail across the Lago del Desierto (Desert Lake) before returning to El Chaltén, concluding our adventure 9 hours after starting.

Half-day trip

If you have less time, we offer a half-day tour option which shortens the itinerary and reduces free time at the Vespignani Glacier.

Times and Collection

When booking, you can choose pickup at your hotel in El Chaltén or to go directly to the Punta Sur dock of Lago del Desierto. Pickup times vary depending on the tour type.

Half-day excursion with pickup: pickup at 11:00 am at Avenida San Martín, 55 (El Chaltén, Santa Cruz, Argentina).Full-day tour with pickup: pickup at your hotel in downtown El Chaltén between 7:30 and 8:00 am.

If you select the excursion without a pickup, be at the Punta Sur dock of Lago del Desierto by 9:45 am for the full-day excursion and by 12:45 pm for the half-day excursion.
