Desert Lake Trip

Explore the natural beauty of the Andes with this fantastic trip to Desert Lake. You will also enjoy a pleasant boat ride and take in wonderful views of the Vespignani Glacier.

Lake of the Desert Trip

At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in El Chaltén and drive for one and a half hours through mountain roads and forests to reach the scenic Lago del Desierto (Desert Lake).

Once there, we'll board a boat for a 30-minute ride, admiring the Huemul and Crestón glaciers. We'll then visit the Vespignani Glacier, where you will have free time to admire the ice tongues and see the north face of Mount Fitz Roy!

After exploring the glacier, we'll take a break for hot tea with cookies. Finally, we'll sail back across the Lago del Desierto (Desert Lake) and return to El Chaltén, concluding our adventure 9 hours after starting.

Half-day trip

If you have less time, we offer a half-day tour with a shortened itinerary, resulting in less time at the Vespignani Glacier.

Times and Collection

You can choose to be picked up at your hotel in El Chaltén or go directly to the Punta Sur dock of Lago del Desierto. Pickup times vary based on the tour type.

Half-day excursion with pickup: Pickup at 11:00 am at Avenida San Martín, 55 (El Chaltén).Full-day tour with pickup: Pickup at your hotel between 7:30 and 8:00 am.

If you select the excursion without a pickup, be at the Punta Sur dock of Lago del Desierto by 9:45 am for the full-day excursion and at 12:45 pm for the half-day excursion.
