Explore the natural beauty of the Andes with this trip to Desert Lake. Enjoy a boat ride and take in views of the Vespignani Glacier.

Lake of the Desert Trip

We will pick you up at your hotel in El Chaltén and drive for one and a half hours through mountain roads and alongside the Río de las Vueltas river, reaching the Lago del Desierto (Desert Lake).

At the pier, we will board the boat for a 30-minute ride on the lake, admiring the Huemul and Crestón glaciers. Next, we visit the Vespignani Glacier, with free time to enjoy the panorama and view the north face of Mount Fitz Roy.

After exploring, we will have a rest with hot tea and cookies. We will then sail across Lago del Desierto and conclude our adventure 9 hours after we begin.

Half-day trip

For a shorter experience, a half-day tour is available, which reduces the time at the Vespignani Glacier.

Times and Collection

You can choose between a pickup at your hotel in El Chaltén or arriving at the Punta Sur dock of Lago del Desierto. Pickup times vary for full-day or half-day excursions.

Half-day excursion with pickup: Pickup at 11:00 am at Avenida San Martín, 55.Full-day tour with pickup: Pickup between 7:30 and 8:00 am at your hotel.

If selecting the excursion without pickup, be at the Punta Sur dock at 9:45 am for the full-day and at 12:45 pm for the half-day excursion.
