Lago del Desierto Trip

Discover the amazing Lago del Desierto at your own pace when you take this fantastic trip from El Chaltén. In addition to seeing the vast lake and the surrounding forests and mountains, you will have the opportunity to hike across the Huemul Glacier.

Lago del Desierto Trip

We will pick you up from your hotel at the indicated time before heading towards Lago del Desierto. The road trip lasts just over one hour with stops to admire the landscapes of Patagonia.

Upon arrival at Lago del Desierto, you will have approximately 5.5 hours of free time. You may choose to navigate the lake on one of the tourist boats or hike to the top of the Huemul Glacier. If you stay at the shores, you will have a panoramic view of Mount Fitz Roy, which rises 11,000 feet. The area features abundant vegetation, including white oaks and Antarctic beeches native to Patagonia.

After enjoying the scenery, we will return you to your hotels, with arrival scheduled for 7.5 hours after pickup.

Optional activities

Boat ride

For a 45-minute boat trip on Lago del Desierto, purchase your ticket in cash on the day's activity upon arrival. The ticket price is 45000 ARS. Boat departure times: Thursday to Tuesday at 12 pm. Not available on Wednesdays.

Hike

If you choose to hike along the Huemul Glacier, you must pay the hiking route access fee in cash, priced at 600 ARS. The trail is 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) and takes approximately an hour and a half for the round trip.
