Guided Tour of Herculaneum
We'll convene at the designated meeting point, the ticket office for the archaeological site of Herculaneum. After distributing tickets, we will proceed in unison into the site to commence our tour of this remarkable ancient Roman settlement, which was entombed by the catastrophic eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD.
During our guided exploration of Herculaneum, we will unveil the lifestyle of its inhabitants during the Roman Empire, while gazing at the remarkably preserved structures that make this site unique. Among the highlights, we will encounter residential homes, sacred temples, public baths, and taverns, along with the poignant sight of over 300 skeletons of those who perished in the eruption.
Not only will the architecture captivate you, but the vivid colorful frescoes adorning the walls will also leave a lasting impression. Our path will take us to the seat of the Augustan Priests, where worship was once offered to Emperor Augustus, through the Forum, to a bakery, as well as the stunning mosaic in the house of Neptune and Amphitrite. Prepare to be amazed!
After a comprehensive two-hour journey, we will conclude our tour near the exit of the archaeological park of Herculaneum. For those who wish to explore further, you are welcome to continue your visit independently.
