Self-Guided Excursion to Mount Vesuvius

If you're in Herculaneum and want to get to Mount Vesuvius, this is the most practical way to get there.

Why visit Mount Vesuvius?

Vesuvius is a notable volcano in Italy and a must-see in the Campania region. From Herculaneum, you can take this transfer to Mount Vesuvius.

The Vesuvio Express bus will depart from Ercolano Scavi station, reaching the entrance of the Vesuvius National Park in approximately 30 minutes. You will have 2 hours of free time to explore the park at your leisure.

During your visit, you can discover the natural features of the national park and learn about the history of Mount Vesuvius's volcanic activity.

A visit would not be complete without climbing up to the crater, situated at about 1200 metres (nearly 4000 feet), offering views of the Bay of Naples. Remember to bring your camera.

You must return to the bus for the trip back to Herculaneum 3 hours after pickup.
