The Vesuvius Valley is known for its vineyards. This tour of the Fuocomuorto Winery in Herculaneum includes a visit to a vineyard at the base of a volcano and a tasting of 3 wines produced locally.

Tour Details

We will meet at the entrance to Fuocomuorto Winery, located near the archaeological site of Herculaneum. The winery is situated within the Vesuvius National Park, nestled between the volcano and the Mediterranean Sea.

The tour begins with a visit to the winery's terraced vineyards, offering views of the Gulf of Naples. Here, you'll learn about the grape varieties cultivated and the characteristics of the volcanic soil.

Following this, we will explore a natural cave formed by volcanic lava post the 1780 eruption, discussing the ageing of wines. You will hear about the wine-making family's history and view traditional equipment used for grape pressing and agriculture.

The tour concludes with a tasting of 3 wines: a Vesuvio Lacryma Christi red and white, along with an extra dry sparkling rosé. A selection of local products will accompany the tasting, including a charcuterie and cheese board, homemade preserves, and Neapolitan sweets.

The entire experience lasts 2 hours.
