The Vesuvius Valley is an area rich in vineyards. On this tour of the Fuocomuorto Winery in Herculaneum, we'll explore a vineyard at the feet of a volcano and have a tasting of 3 wines made in the area.
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at the entrance to the Fuocomuorto Winery, a family business located a few minutes away from the archaeological site of Herculaneum. Its vineyards are in the middle of the Vesuvius National Park, between the volcano's slopes and the Mediterranean Sea.
We'll begin the visit with a tour of the winery's terraced vineyards, from where you'll enjoy views of the Gulf of Naples. While we admire these landscapes, you'll learn about the different grape varieties used and the features of the volcanic soil in the region.
Afterwards, we'll explore a natural cave in the winery. In this underground cave, created by volcanic lava after the 1780 eruption, we'll discuss the ageing of wines and the wine-making family's history, including objects historically used for grape pressing and other agricultural activities.
The final part of the tour will consist of a tasting of 3 wines: a Vesuvio Lacryma Christi red and white, plus an extra dry sparkling rosé, accompanied by a tasting of local products such as charcuterie, cheese, homemade preserves, and Neapolitan sweets.
The tour lasts a total of 2 hours.
