The Vesuvius Valley is known for its abundant vineyards. This visit to the Fuocomuorto Winery in Herculaneum invites you to explore a vineyard nestled at the base of a volcano while sampling three local wines produced on-site.
Tour Overview
We will convene at the entrance of the Fuocomuorto Winery, a family-run establishment located just a short distance from the Herculaneum archaeological site. The winery is situated within the Vesuvius National Park, where the slopes of the volcano meet the Mediterranean coastline.
The journey will commence with a guided tour through the winery’s terraced vineyards, offering stunning views of the Gulf of Naples. While soaking in these scenic vistas, you’ll gain insights into the various grape varieties cultivated in this unique volcanic terrain.
Next, we will venture into a natural cave formed by volcanic lava following the eruption of 1780. Here, discussions will revolve around the wine aging process, as well as the winery’s family history. Additionally, you will have the chance to view historical artifacts used in grape pressing and other agricultural practices.
The experience will conclude with a tasting of three wines: a red and white Vesuvio Lacryma Christi, along with a dry sparkling rosé. To complement these wines, we will enjoy a sampling of local delicacies, including a selection of charcuterie and cheese, artisanal preserves, and traditional Neapolitan desserts.
The tour will wrap up after approximately two hours.
