Embark on a journey from Esquel to uncover the Welsh heritage in Trevelin and the Futaleufú Hydroelectric Complex, two essential destinations in Chubut province!

Excursion to Trevelin & Futaleufú

Your adventure will commence with a departure from your accommodation in Esquel at 2:30 pm. Just 30 minutes later, we'll reach Trevelin, a quaint town nestled in Patagonia that emerged during the latter part of the 19th century due to the influx of Welsh settlers to this secluded region of Argentina.

During our guided exploration of Trevelin, we'll delve into the fascinating history of these immigrants. Their cultural impact is evident at the Regional Museum, where insights into their lifestyle will be revealed. Additionally, we will visit charming chapels and traditional Welsh homes scattered throughout the area.

Next, we will proceed to Los Alerces National Park, an expansive and stunning natural area that shares its western border with Chile. Here, we will enjoy a scenic walk along the shoreline of Amutui Quimey Lake, a vital resource for the Futaleufú Hydroelectric Complex, which efficiently manages the local water supply.

After exploring the hydroelectric facility, our journey will bring us back to Trevelin, where you'll have one hour of free time to indulge in a delightful Welsh-style snack. Local cafés offer a variety of British-inspired treats, including tea, pastries, toast with jam, and muffins – enjoy!

Ultimately, we will conclude our excursion and return to your hotel in Esquel, with an anticipated arrival time of 7:30 pm.
