On this tour of the Amazigh market in the Haha Region, to the south of Essaouira, we'll delve into rural Moroccan life and visit an argan oil cooperative.
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at 287 Rue Oued El Makhazine to begin our journey to the southeast of Essaouira, reaching the Amazigh town of Ida Ogourd. Prepare to experience a vibrant array of smells, textures, and colors unique to this region.
At this weekly market, participants will witness the authenticity of local life as residents shop and socialize in a friendly setting. Daily activities include riding donkeys, which remains a common practice, with a unique 'Donkey Parking' area nearby.
The market is filled with stalls offering fresh vegetables, exotic fruits, spices, and services such as blacksmiths, welders, shoemakers, and barbers. The experience concludes with tea while appreciating the vibrant surroundings.
Before returning to Essaouira, there will be a visit to an argan cooperative, where participants will learn about the production of argan oil, known as the Gold of Morocco. This includes observing the extraction process by Amazigh women and tasting the finished product. The tour lasts 3.5 hours, concluding back at the starting point after exploring Amazigh traditions.
