On this tour of the Amazigh market in the Haha Region, to the south of Essaouira, we'll delve into rural Moroccan life and visit an argan oil cooperative.

Description

At the scheduled time, we'll meet at 287 Rue Oued El Makhazine to begin our journey to the southeast of Essaouira, specifically to the Amazigh town of Ida Ogourd. The weekly market offers a chance to experience local life as residents shop and gather in a familiar atmosphere, showcasing deep-rooted traditions.

The market features stalls filled with fresh vegetables, exotic fruit, spices, and various services, including blacksmiths, welders, shoemakers, and barbers. We will also have the opportunity to enjoy tea while taking in the vibrant surroundings.

Before returning to Essaouira, we will visit an argan cooperative to learn about the process of producing this prized oil, often referred to as the Gold of Morocco. This aspect of the tour highlights the crucial role Amazigh women play in the oil extraction process, concluding with a tasting of the final product.

After 3.5 hours, we will return to the starting point, reflecting on our immersion into Amazigh traditions.
