Amazigh Market Tour + Argan Oil Cooperative Visit

On this tour of the Amazigh market in the Haha Region, to the south of Essaouira, we will explore rural Moroccan life and visit an argan oil cooperative.

Description

At the scheduled time, we will meet at 287 Rue Oued El Makhazine to begin our journey to the Amazigh town of Ida Ogourd in the southeast of Essaouira. We will immerse ourselves in the unique smells, textures, and colors of the region.

At the weekly market, we will experience the authenticity of local life as locals shop and socialize in a friendly and familiar location. We will witness daily life characterized by deep-rooted traditions, such as donkey rides, with a charming Donkey Parking area nearby.

During the tour, we will see stalls with fresh vegetables, exotic fruit, spices, and domestic items, as well as services like blacksmiths, welders, shoemakers, and barbers. We will conclude the market experience with tea while enjoying the vibrant scenery.

Before returning to Essaouira, we will visit an argan cooperative to learn about the production of this valuable oil, known as the Gold of Morocco. The guided tour includes insight into the extraction process by Amazigh women and a tasting of the final product.

After 3.5 hours, we will return to the starting point, concluding our immersion in Amazigh traditions.
