Discover Amazigh cuisine by attending this Moroccan cooking class in a traditional village near Essaouira.
Class Details
We'll meet at 287 Rue Oued El Makhazine, next to the taxi rank. The class includes a trip to Haha Hills in the Essaouira countryside, where argan trees grow, and it's possible to see goats in the trees.
We'll visit a local souk to gather fresh ingredients for the dishes. The next stop is an authentic Amazigh kitchen with traditional utensils for cooking.
Two local women will guide us in making Amazigh flatbread, from grinding barley to baking. We'll also prepare couscous in a clay pot and learn about the key ingredients used in Amazigh cuisine. The dishes include vegetable and goat meat tajin with olive oil and Moroccan spices.
You will enjoy the meals you prepared, potentially outside if the weather permits, followed by fresh herbal tea.
Before returning to Essaouira, there is an opportunity to visit an argan oil cooperative to learn about its production.
The tour lasts 7 hours, concluding back at the meeting point.
