Salcha, Delta Junction & Summit Lake Day Trip

On this day trip, we'll explore the scenery of inland Alaska, including mountains and wildlife.

Pickup is between 8 and 9 am from your hotel in Fairbanks. We will head south to see the natural treasures of interior Alaska.

We will drive along the Tanana River coastline, with our first stop at a traditional carpentry store in Salcha to learn about birch wood carving.

Next, we will explore Big Delta State Historic Park, home to early 20th-century houses in good condition. Here, we will see landscapes of Quartz Lake, Delta Flats, the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System, and the Delta Clear Water River.

In Delta Junction, you will have free time for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, we will visit Sullivan's Roadhouse to review the history of the gold rush in Alaska from the late 19th century.

Then, we will take in views of the Black Rapids Glacier and the surrounding wildlife, including moose, buffalo, and caribou. Finally, we will visit Summit Lake, noted for its natural beauty.

We will return to your hotel in Fairbanks between 8 pm and 9 pm.
