2 Day Morocco Desert Trip

Spend an unforgettable night in an Amazigh desert camp on a 2-day trip to the golden dunes near the village of Merzouga.

Description

Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Azrou – Erfoud – Merzouga

Depart from Fez in the morning heading to the village of Merzouga. Traverse the Middle Atlas Mountains and its cedar woods, inhabited by Barbary Apes. Admire Ifrane, known as Morocco’s “Little Switzerland”, and continue to Azrou.

After crossing the Ziz Valley and gorges, drive past Midelt and Erfoud. From Erfoud, take a dirt road to Merzouga. Enjoy a camel ride at sunset and reach a traditional desert camp for a Moroccan meal and overnight in an Amazigh tent.

Day 2: Rissani – Ziz Valley – Middle Atlas – Fez

Awake early to watch the sunrise from a dune, then ride back to Merzouga for breakfast and a shower (depending on the camp). On the return journey to Fez, stop at Tafilalt and Rissani, the latter being significant to the Alawite dynasty.

The tour concludes in Fez late in the evening.

Desert camps

Stay in a standard or luxury desert camp. Standard rooms have communal showers; luxury tents include private facilities. Options include double, triple, or family tents. Note that air-conditioning in luxury camps incurs an additional charge of 30EUR per person.

A single supplement applies for individual bookings or if someone in the group desires a single room.

Private tours

Private 2-day desert tours can be arranged any day of the week. Prices are 440EUR for 2 guests, 500EUR for 3 guests, 560EUR for 4 guests, 610EUR for 5 guests, and 690EUR for 6 guests. Luxury camps cost 490EUR, 610EUR, 710EUR, 810EUR, and 910EUR, respectively.
