3 Day Merzouga Desert Private Day Trip

This 3-day trip to Merzouga from Fez offers an authentic Moroccan Sahara experience.

3-Day Tour Details

Day 1: Fez - Ifrane - Azrou - Erfoud - Merzouga

Depart from Fez at 8 am to the village of Merzouga. Travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains and cedar forests, observing Ifrane and Azrou along the way. After passing through Ziz Valley and villages like Midelt and Erfoud, arrive in Merzouga for your first night in a hotel.

Day 2: Enjoying Merzouga Desert

The second day includes a 4x4 tour of the Eastern Sahara, visiting nomad settlements, oases, and the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Explore Khamlia, home to the Gnawa people, known for their folk music. In the evening, ride camels into the dunes and spend the night in a Berber tent.

Day 3: Rissani - Ziz Valley - Middle Atlas - Fez

Experience sunrise atop a dune, then return to Merzouga for breakfast and a shower. On the way back to Fez, stop in Tafilalt and Rissani, rich in history. Visit the forests of Azrou to feed wild monkeys. Return to Fez in the late afternoon.

Day Trip Transport

The tour includes transportation via Toyota Landcruiser with air-conditioning and an English-speaking chauffeur.

Standard category:

Merzouga (first night): Riad Mamouche / Dar Tafouyte.Merzouga (second night): Amazigh desert camp.

Luxury category:

Merzouga (first night): Riad Nezha / Merzouga Guest House / Dar el Janoub / Riad Madu / Riad Azawad.Merzouga (second night): Luxury desert camp with private bathroom.

Note that accommodations only offer double, triple, or family rooms. Standard haimas accommodate up to 4 people with shared bathrooms, while luxury haimas accommodate up to 5 with private bathrooms. Air conditioning in luxury camps incurs an additional 30EUR per person.
