Guided Tour of Florence Cathedral
We will convene at the Museo della Misericordia at the scheduled time. From here, you will benefit from priority entry into the Florence Cathedral, a globally significant structure and a true testament to the Italian Renaissance. This site holds the distinction of being a World Heritage Site.
Upon entering, we will explore the rich history of this cathedral, built in honor of Santa Maria del Fiore, the city’s patron saint. Discover its evolution from a modest church in the 7th century to its status as one of the largest cathedrals worldwide.
As we proceed, we will delve into the architectural marvels of the cathedral and the numerous art pieces adorning its interiors. Not to be missed is Brunelleschi's magnificent dome, which towers over the cityscape. We will explore the construction techniques and materials that made this dome a reality.
Finally, we will take a moment to appreciate the remarkable fresco by Vasari and Zuccaro illustrating the Last Judgement. This artwork boasts the title of the largest of its kind using this painting technique, a truly astonishing sight!
