Guided Tour of Santa Croce Basilica

At the agreed time we'll meet in the Piazza Santa Croce. Here, we'll observe the facade of the temple and enter the basilica to commence our guided tour.

Entering from the left side of the building, our guide will explain the wealth of art contained within. We will view some of the first works of art, including a sculpture honoring writer Giovanni Battista Niccolini.

We will tour the most notable chapels and see works by artists such as Giotto, with his frescoes, and Donatello, who created the large crucifix of the high altar. The Santa Croce Basilica is significant for its artistic wealth, size, and the illustrious figures interred within, including Michelangelo, Machiavelli, Galileo Galilei, and Rossini.

The tour will conclude after visiting the main areas and the sixteen chapels of the church, culminating in a visit to the crypt and the bell tower.
