Architecture, urban legends, and traditions are perfectly combined on this free tour of Florianópolis. Prepare yourselves to discover the history of the capital of Santa Catarina!

Description

At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the stairs of the Metropolitan Cathedral to begin this free tour around Florianópolis. We will start in the historic centre, known as Floripa, and learn about the secrets of its important monuments and buildings.

Who were the first inhabitants of the island of Santa Catarina? We'll learn about the indigenous tribes and the arrival of Portuguese colonisers and African slaves in the 17th century.

We will visit the Cruz e Sousa Palace, the old headquarters of the State Government, and the November 15th Square. We will continue walking around Largo da Alfândega until we reach the Public Market. The next stop will be at the façade of the Nossa Senhora do Rosário dos Homens Pretos Church. We will also pass by the Álvaro de Carvalho Theatre.

Before finishing, we will walk down Hercílio Luz Avenue until we arrive at Santa Bárbara Fort, which are significant locations to understand Florianópolis.

After 2 hours of a guided visit, the Florianópolis free tour will conclude at the Miramar Memorial.
