Florianópolis Free Walking Tour

Tour Details

We will meet at Rua Felipe Schmidt, 14 to begin this free tour around Florianópolis. The tour will focus on the historic centre, called Floripa, where we will learn about significant monuments and buildings.

We will explore the history of the first inhabitants of Santa Catarina Island, including the indigenous tribes from the 17th century and the arrival of Portuguese colonisers and African slaves.

We will visit the Cruz e Sousa Palace, the old headquarters of the State Government, and November 15th Square. We will then proceed to Largo da Alfândega and the Public Market, as well as the Nossa Senhora do Rosário dos Homens Pretos Church and the Álvaro de Carvalho Theatre.

Our final stops will include Hercílio Luz Avenue and Santa Bárbara Fort, essential locations for understanding Florianópolis. The tour will conclude after 2 hours at the Miramar Memorial.
