Steam Train to Elgin Railway Market

At 7:45 am, you will arrive at the Harbour Bridge Hotel & Suites platform, from where the steam train of the historic Ceres Rail Company departs. This company, active in South Africa since 1910, aims to preserve railway culture and heritage by restoring and reusing old locomotives.

The steam train travels through the landscapes of Cape Town, Sir Lowrs Pass, and the Elgin Valley. Enjoy the unique experience of riding in a vintage train with wooden covered carriages, featuring a cafeteria and books for entertainment during the ride.

After three hours, the train will arrive at the Elgin Railway Market, where you can explore various craft, food, and drink stalls. The market offers a variety of dishes, including Neapolitan pizzas, hamburgers, vegetarian food, Mexican nachos, and aromatic curry. The market bar features wines, beer, cider, and Elgin craft gin.

At 2:15 pm, the steam train will depart Elgin, returning to Cape Town and arriving at 6:15 pm.
