Discover the turquoise waters of one of the most beautiful places in Costa Rica with this wonderful hiking trip along the Celeste River in the Tenorio Volcano National Park.

Celeste River Hiking Trip

We will start with the pick-up at 7:30 am at your hotel and head towards the Tenorio Volcano National Park, located 2600 feet high. The journey from La Fortuna lasts one hour and a half.

On the volcano's slopes, we will encounter the magnificent Celeste River, known for its intense blue color. Legend states that after painting the sky, God cleaned his brushes in this river, resulting in its unique color.

We will trek along a 4-mile route through dense forests until we reach the Celeste Waterfall, an ideal location for photography.

Next, we will visit the Blue Lagoon, where the river forms a natural lagoon. However, bathing is not permitted per National Park regulations; we can admire the view from a viewpoint.

At the trail's end, we will discover Los Teñideros, where the unique colorization of the river occurs. We will continue along the river before stopping for lunch. After lunch, we will return to our hotels in La Fortuna around 4:30 pm.
