Discover the turquoise waters of one of the most beautiful places in Costa Rica with this wonderful hiking trip along the Celeste River in the Tenorio Volcano National Park.

Celeste River Hiking Trip

We will start with the pick-up at 7:30 am at your hotel and head towards the Tenorio Volcano National Park, whose summit stands at 2600 feet high. The journey from La Fortuna will take approximately one hour and a half.

On the slopes of the volcano, we will encounter the remarkable Celeste River, noted for the intense blue color of its waters. Legend states that the river received its unique color when God cleaned his brushes after painting the sky.

We will trek along a 4-mile route through dense forests to the stunning Celeste Waterfall, an ideal photo opportunity. Please bring your camera.

Next, we will visit the Blue Lagoon, where the river forms a natural lagoon admired from a viewpoint, as swimming is not permitted by park regulations.

At the end of the trail, we will find Los Teñideros, the site where the river's turquoise color originates. After following the river, we will stop for lunch before returning to our hotels in La Fortuna around 4:30 pm.
