Hiking Adventure at Celeste River
Your journey begins at 7:30 am with a pick-up from your accommodation as we make our way to the Tenorio Volcano National Park, whose peak towers at an impressive 2600 feet. The drive from La Fortuna takes approximately one and a half hours.
As we ascend the slopes of the volcano, we will be greeted by the breathtaking Celeste River, renowned for its striking blue hue. According to local legend, after painting the sky, God rinsed his brushes in this river, imparting a distinctive turquoise shade to its waters.
Our trek will cover a 4-mile path through lush forests that ultimately leads us to the magnificent Celeste Waterfall, an ideal spot to capture stunning photographs. Be sure to have your camera ready!
Next, we will visit the Blue Lagoon, where the river creates a natural lagoon reminiscent of a fairy tale. Although swimming is prohibited per the National Park's regulations, we will still be able to delight in the captivating views of the Celeste River from the viewpoint at this location.
As we conclude our trail, we will arrive at Los Teñideros, where this remarkable natural occurrence that imbues the river with its turquoise hue takes place. Here, we will uncover the secrets behind its unique appearance. Following our exploration, we will continue alongside the river until we stop for a meal. After our lunch, we will head back to La Fortuna, with an expected arrival around 4:30 pm.
