Discover the turquoise waters of one of the most beautiful places in Costa Rica with this wonderful hiking trip along the Celeste River in the Tenorio Volcano National Park.

Celeste River Hiking Trip

We will start with the pick-up at 7:30 am at your hotel and head towards the Tenorio Volcano National Park, whose summit stands at 2600 feet high. The journey from La Fortuna will take just one hour and a half.

On the slopes of the volcano, we will encounter the magnificent Celeste River, named for the intense blue color of its waters. Legend has it that when he finished painting the sky, God cleaned his brushes in this river.

We will trek along a 4-mile route through dense forests until we reach the stunning Celeste Waterfall, an ideal spot for photos. Please bring your camera.

Next, we will visit the Blue Lagoon, where the river forms a natural lagoon. Due to National Park regulations, bathing is not allowed, but we can admire the Celeste River from the viewpoint.

At the end of the trail, we will find Los Teñideros, where the natural phenomenon that colors the river occurs. After following the river, we will stop for lunch. Following lunch, we will return to our hotels in La Fortuna around 4:30 pm.
