Experience the stunning turquoise waters in one of Costa Rica's most enchanting locations on this incredible hike along the Celeste River within the Tenorio Volcano National Park.

Hiking Adventure on the Celeste River

We'll begin our journey with a hotel pick-up at 7:30 am before heading towards the Tenorio Volcano National Park, which boasts a peak elevation of 2,600 feet. The drive from La Fortuna will take approximately an hour and a half.

As we ascend the volcano’s slopes, we will discover the breathtaking Celeste River, renowned for its strikingly blue waters. According to legend, after creating the sky, God cleaned His brushes in this river, endowing it with a distinct turquoise hue.

Our trek will cover a 4-mile path through lush forests, leading us to the magnificent Celeste Waterfall, an ideal spot for capturing memorable photos. Make sure to have your camera ready!

Next, we will explore the Blue Lagoon, where the river transforms into a picturesque natural lagoon reminiscent of a fairy tale. Although swimming is prohibited by National Park regulations, we can admire the beauty of the Celeste River from the viewpoint situated here.

At the trail's conclusion, we will encounter Los Teñideros, where you can witness the natural process that gives the river its captivating blue color. After learning about this phenomenon, we will continue alongside the river until we pause for lunch. After our meal, we will return to your hotel in La Fortuna around 4:30 pm.
