Hule Lagoon Volcanic Crater Trek

Our day will begin with a pick up from your hotel in La Fortuna at 7:30 am. We will travel by bus for an hour and a half through the picturesque San Carlos Plains and Juan Castro Blanco National Park until we reach the town where Laguna de Hule is located.

This lagoon is situated at the base of the Congo Volcano. Formed by paths of clay and volcanic rock, it is a suitable location for hiking and observing its variety of landscapes. We will start by hiking through the grasslands surrounding the volcanic cauldron, then descend into the lush green forest area. During this 5-mile route, we will see the three volcanic lakes that originally formed the crater of the volcano.

This 3-hour walk will leave us feeling hungry, so we will visit a local family who will prepare a traditional lunch for us. After this experience with the local culture and gastronomy, we will return to your hotel in La Fortuna, arriving around 4:30 pm.
