On this star-gazing experience at Roque de los Muchachos, we'll learn about the stars over La Palma and enjoy a magical sunset.
Stargazing in La Palma
We'll pick you up from the meeting point in La Palma that you select and head to the highest part of the island to spot thousands of stars from Roque de Los Muchachos.
La Palma is one of the best places in Spain for star gazing due to protected skies. Our tour will take us to the viewpoint in Roque de los Muchachos, at 2426 metres (7960 feet), which features the Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory, home to the largest infrared optical telescope in the world.
Upon arrival, we'll watch the sunset from the peak and enjoy a glass of wine from the island. After sunset, we'll move to a nearby viewpoint.
At the viewpoint, we'll provide a guided explanation of the stars and constellations using a laser and an 11-inch Celestron telescope. We will explore solar systems, star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies, and discuss visible celestial bodies like the moon and other planets.
After a total of 8 hours, we will return to the original pickup points.
