Curral das Freiras Madeira Day Trip

Curral das Freiras, or the Valley of the Nuns, is a stunning location in Madeira. This hiking tour showcases the remarkable natural landscapes of the area.

Day Trip Details

Pickup will occur at your hotel in Funchal at the scheduled time. The tour starts with a brief stop at the Picos dos Barcelos viewpoint for panoramic views of the city.

Next, we will proceed to Curral das Freiras, a village situated in the Nuns' Valley. This location received its name after nuns sought refuge here in 1566 from pirate attacks on the convent in Funchal. The surrounding rugged peaks offer a stunning backdrop.

The tour will then continue to the Eira do Serrado viewpoint, where a 30-minute stop will allow guests to admire the views of the Nuns Valley. The lush hills and whitewashed houses of Curral das Freiras create a picturesque scene.

After absorbing the views, we will return to Curral das Freiras and make our way back to Funchal by minibus, completing the tour in approximately 4 hours.

This activity includes pickup from hotels in the center of Funchal. For those staying in more remote areas or other parts of Madeira, pickup will occur at Rua 5 de Outubro, 78 at the designated time.
