Join us on a walking tour of Funchal where we will uncover the rich history and unique architecture of Madeira's capital while meandering through its charming old town.

Tour Overview

This complimentary tour in the heart of Madeira will commence at the Funchal Marina. It serves as an ideal starting point for understanding the roots of this vibrant city.

As we wander, we will take a closer look at the harbour area, home to the Museum of Cristiano Ronaldo, which pays tribute to the renowned Portuguese soccer star. Interesting fact: he hails from one of Funchal's modest neighbourhoods.

Our journey will also lead us into the historic district, highlighting its most notable landmarks. Among these is the São Lourenço palace-fortress, constructed between 1580 and 1640 during the Spanish domination of Portugal. We will share insights into the significant role this fort played, regarded as one of Madeira's key military sites.

We will stroll along Avenida do Mar, taking in the external beauty of the Madeira Assembly and the Funchal Gate. Additionally, we’ll explore vibrant urban art murals and stroll along the city's oldest street before concluding our tour.

The entire experience will span approximately 2.5 hours.
