Levada das 25 Fontes Walk

Immerse yourself in one of the most beautiful areas of Madeira on this hike through Rabaçal and along the Levada das 25 Fontes from Funchal.

Description

After picking you up from your hotel in Funchal, we will head to the Arco da Calheta by minibus. From this town, we'll begin our trekking route along the Levada das 25 Fontes, known for its 25 natural springs and classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This area features a diverse range of plant and wildlife which will be highlighted during our hike.

As we follow the levada, we will arrive at the Lagoa de 25 Fontes, a lagoon fed by the 25 Fontes Falls, a 30-metre waterfall. Participants will have 30 minutes for a dip in the pool and to eat their packed food.

In the afternoon, we will regroup and continue to hike through Rabaçal before returning to Arco da Calheta. We will arrive back in Funchal around 5 pm, where drop-off at your hotel will occur.

Pickup and drop-off

This activity includes pickup and drop-off for hotels in the centre of Funchal. For those staying outside the city centre or on the island, the meeting point is Rua 5 de Outubro, 78.

The hike lasts 4 hours and covers 11 km (just under 7 miles), requiring good physical condition.
