Levada das 25 Fontes Walk

Immerse yourself in one of the most beautiful areas of Madeira on this hike through Rabaçal and along the Levada das 25 Fontes from Funchal.

Description

After hotel pickup in Funchal, we will travel to Arco da Calheta by minibus. The trek begins from this town in southern Madeira.

We will follow the Levada das 25 Fontes, a historic aqueduct with a wide network of walking paths, named for the 25 natural springs along the route. This site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, featuring a diverse array of plants and wildlife.

As we proceed, we will reach the Lagoa de 25 Fontes, a natural lagoon fed by the 25 Fontes Falls, which cascades from a height of 30 meters (almost 100 ft). You will have 30 minutes of free time to swim and enjoy your packed lunch.

In the afternoon, we will hike back through Rabaçal to Arco da Calheta and return to Funchal, arriving at your hotel around 5 pm.

Pickup and drop–off

This activity includes pickup and drop–off for hotels in the centre of Funchal. If you are located outside the city centre or elsewhere on the island, please meet at Rua 5 de Outubro, 78 at the designated time.

Important information

The hike lasts 4 hours and covers 11 km (just under 7 miles). A moderate level of physical fitness is required.
