Valley of the Nuns Tour + Wooden Basket Ride

Hotel pick-up will be provided to visit Madeira and Curral das Freiras. The first stop is in the parish of Monte, where a traditional means of transport will be introduced.

Travelers will ride in a wicker basket equipped with wheels, a method used in the 19th century by the wealthiest residents of Monte. After this ride, we will proceed to Santo Antonio, where Cristiano Ronaldo trained as a child. The route will feature views of eucalyptus, mimosa, and chestnut trees, reaching 1,100 meters (3,608 feet) above sea level.

Next, we will visit the viewpoint of Eira do Serrado at 1,200 meters above sea level for views of Funchal. We will also explore the Valley of the Nuns, including the Nun's House, its church, and enjoy a Madeira liqueur tasting. The tour will conclude at the Pico dos Barcelos viewpoint before returning to the hotel after 3 hours.

This activity includes hotel pick-up from Caniço, Garajau, Funchal and Câmara de Lobos Centro. For pickup in downtown Santa Cruz, a supplement of 15?EUR per person is required on the day of the activity.

Children Under

Children under 5 years old can join for free, though a fee of 7EUR for a child seat in the Madeira Baskets applies on the day of the tour.
