Fúquene Hiking & Boat Tour

We will meet at 9 am at the port of the Fúquene lagoon for a boat ride of one-and-a-half hours on this lake, situated at over 2,400 meters (7874 feet) above sea level.

During the boat tour, we will pass by the island of El Santuario, known for its historical Muisca temples. According to legend, Fu, a deity resembling a fox, resides beneath the lake's waters. Birdwatching is also included, featuring species such as blackbirds and American coots.

Following the boat ride, we will begin a one-and-a-half-hour hiking route along the old Fúquene railway tracks, leading to a tunnel deep in the mountain where we will discuss endemic plant properties.

After the hike, a traditional dish of vegetables and rice will be served. The day will continue with a reed basket-making workshop, demonstrating the treatment of fibers and collection of raw materials from the riverbank.

The activity will conclude at 3 pm.
