Fúquene Hiking & Boat Tour
Participants will meet at 9 am at the port of the Fúquene lagoon for a boat ride lasting one and a half hours on the lake, situated at over 2,400 meters (7874 feet) above sea level.
During the boat trip, the tour will pass by the island of El Santuario, known for its historical Muisca temples. The area is steeped in legend, including tales of Fu, a deity with a fox's features who protected the muzos. Observers may also spot local bird species, such as blackbirds and American coots.
Following the boat ride, participants will embark on a one-and-a-half-hour hiking route along the tracks of the old Fúquene railway, leading to a tunnel that penetrates the mountain while discussing the characteristics of endemic plants.
After the hike, a traditional dish made of vegetables and rice will be served. Participants will then take part in a reed basket-making workshop, learning about the treatment of fibers and the collection of raw materials from the riverbank.
The activity will conclude at 3 pm at the starting point.
