Fúquene Hiking & Boat Tour

In this activity we'll go on a hiking route and take a boat ride on the Fúquene lagoon. We'll discover the legends, culture, nature and secrets of the area.

Fúquene Hiking & Boat Tour

We'll meet at 9 am at the port of the Fúquene lagoon. There we'll board a boat for an hour-and-a-half ride on this lake located at an altitude of more than 2,400 metres (7874 feet) above sea level.

During the trip, we will pass by the island of El Santuario, known for Muisca temples. Legend has it that Fu, a god with features of a fox, lived under the waters of the lake. The tour includes birdwatching, with species like blackbirds and American coots.

After the boat ride, we'll disembark and begin a one-and-a-half-hour hiking route along the tracks of the old Fúquene railway. This includes a walk to a tunnel deep into the mountain while discussing endemic plants.

After the hike, we'll have a traditional dish of vegetables and rice. Following the meal, we will attend a basket-making workshop, where we will learn about the treatment of reeds and raw material collection from the riverbank.

Finally, we'll return to the starting point to conclude the activity at 3 pm.
