At the indicated time, we'll meet outside St Columba's Credit Union office on the edge of Eyre Square and begin this walking tour.

Our tour starts at Eyre Square, where we will see The Browne Doorway, originally the entrance to an influential family's home, moved to Eyre Square in 1905.

We will also view the Quincentennial Fountain, designed by architect Eamon O'Doherty and inaugurated in 1984 as a tribute to Galway City's establishment as a borough.

Next is Lynch's Castle, a 16th-century gothic structure that now houses a bank. Previously, it served as a hotel and was owned by a powerful family.

Our route will take us to the Galway Market, open year-round on Saturdays and Sundays, offering food and craft stalls of traditional Irish products. We will then walk down Kirwan's Lane in the Latin Quarter, known for its 16th and 17th-century architecture.

As we conclude, we will visit The Spanish Arch, built in 1584, originally known as "Ceann an Bhalla". You'll learn why its name was changed.

Finally, we'll cross Salmon Weir Bridge to reach Galway Cathedral, bringing the tour to an end after 1.5 hours. Slán!
