Learn about the history of German immigrants in southern Brazil with this tour to Blumenau and Pomerode from Itajaí - two cities in the European Valley!
Blumenau & Pomerode Excursion
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Itajaí at 8:30 am and take the Rio Itajaí-Açu highway to Blumenau. On the way, you'll see the Germanic architecture characteristic of the area as we pass through the towns of Ilhota and Gaspar.
Upon arrival in Blumenau, a city established by German immigrants, you will experience many European customs, including the world's second-largest Oktoberfest.
We will visit the Beer Garden, followed by the Town Hall (formerly a train station) and the Cathedral of São Paulo Apóstolo. We will enter the Vila Germânica, the venue for Oktoberfest, and provide time for lunch on your own.
Next, we will proceed to Pomerode. Enter the city through the Portal Wolfgang Weege, visit a typical porcelain workshop, the Immigrant Museum, the zoo, and the Vila Encantada to learn about the prehistoric past of southern Brazil.
The excursion concludes with a visit to a craft brewery for a beer tasting. We will return to Itajaí and drop you off at your hotel around 5:30 pm.
