Discover the great resistance of Gdansk during the invasion of Poland on this World War II tour, during which you'll learn about the most epic efforts of the Polish community.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the entrance to the World War II Museum and begin our World War II tour of Gdansk.
First, we'll visit the museum to learn about the city of Gdansk's connection to the conflict, with its permanent exhibition serving as an introduction to the tour.
Afterward, we'll return to the historic center and stop in front of the Polish Post Office, where workers defended the building for 15 hours against the SS Heimwehr unit, with Polish survivors facing severe consequences.
We'll also explore the defense of the shipyard against German forces and the destruction of the Jewish synagogue on the Night of Broken Glass in 1938. Additionally, the tour will highlight that Gdansk received the 2019 Princess of Asturias Award for Concord.
The World War II tour will conclude at the meeting point after 3.5 hours.
